Infantry weapons teams are a key component of any Bolt Action army, providing as they do great tactical flexibility for your force. Sniper teams, anti-tank teams and flamethrower teams are among the most prevalent, presenting your opponent with multiple challenges to overcome.
British forces were armed with 2-inch mortar for close support purposes. Two men were needed to operate it. An NCO was responsible for carrying and firing the weapon while the other carried ammunition. Weighing less than 11Ibs and offering an effective range of 500 yards, these mortars were quick to manoeuvre and deploy as needed.
Snipers were armed with a SMLE No.4 Rifle equipped with a No.32 Mk.1 telescopic sight. The team carried fifty rounds of ammunition, five tracer round and fiver-armour-piercing rounds. Two No.36 Mills bombs or two No.77 smoke grenades were also carried, along with binoculars and a camouflage net.
The portable flamethrower available to British forces was the Ack Pack. At a weight of 64Ibs, the Ack Packs could be carried and operated by one man. Fully loaded, the Ack Pack was capable of ten bursts each of a two second duration. With a range of fifty yards it was a truly fearsome weapon that excelled in clearing bunkers and buildings.

On 14 May 1940, Britain’s Secretary of State for War Anthony Eden made a broadcast calling for men between the ages of 17 and 65 to enrol in a new force, the Local Defence Volunteers (LDV) to defend the country against the expected German invasion of Britain. By July, nearly 1.5 million men had enrolled - far outreaching the 150,000 the Government expected to volunteer.
This set contains a 10-man section equipped with various improvised weaponry, with additional firearms and Molotov cocktails.
Beginning life as a rag-tag militia, the LDV initially had to make do without uniforms, wearing a simple armband bearing the organisations initials. The LDV similarly struggled for modern weaponry - shotguns and improvised weapons such as golf clubs, crowbars and industrial tools were not uncommon. The LDV evolved into the Home Guard, becoming a well-equipped and well-drilled force.
Disparagingly referred to as ‘Look, Duck & Vanish’, the LDV were renamed to the more inspiring Home Guard. Although the German invasion of their country didn’t materialise this proud people’s army - the original ‘Dad’s Army’ continued to stand until it was disbanded in late 1945.

Although obsolete in the European theatre, the A12 Matilda II infantry tank’s heavy armour and proven weaponry were ideal against the lightly equipped Japanese forces in the Far East.
The nature of the terrain precluded the large armoured formations experienced in North Africa. Instead, the Matilda-equipped Australian 4th Armoured Brigade was broken up and deployed as individual troops of three tanks in direct support to the infantry.
The Australians made several field conversions to the standard A12 Matilda II, the two main additions being armoured guards fitted to the front tracks and protection against the turret ring becoming a shot trap.
The Matilda Frog was a terrifying weapon, firing gouts of pressurised flame. Needing a 20-second pause between shots while the pressure built up again, it required close infantry support to prevent the tank being overrun by the enemy.

The first M3s were operational in late 1941 the U.S. Army needed a good tank and coupled with Great Britain's demand for a medium tank immediately, the Lee began production by late 1940.
The tank's first actions during the war was during the North African Campaign in 1942. They continued to serve in North Africa until the end of that campaign during which time the M3 was generally appreciated for its mechanical reliability, good armour and heavy firepower.

The British Royal Navy has a centuries-long distinguished history and a reputation for excellence. During the early 20th century Britannia continued to rule the waves. Spread around the globe, Royal Navy ships were able to put ashore units of armed sailors as landing parties, shore patrols or in boarding actions against other vessels.
Armed primarily with the reliable Lee Enfield rifle and often supported by a Lewis machine gun, sections of highly disciplined and well-equipped naval ratings with considerable experience of close combat fighting are a fearsome opponent.
As the Second World War progressed this role would also be taken on by Khaki-uniformed Royal Navy Commando or Royal Marine sections though naval shore parties were still in action throughout the war. Clad in their dark blue uniforms and 1908 pattern webbing these Jack Tars will provide a dash of colour to an otherwise khaki British force.

Born out of the Soviet Union's desperate need in 1941 for mobile anti-tank guns to halt the inexorable advance of Nazi Germany deep into the heart of the Motherland, the ZiS-30 married the rugged Komsomolets artillery tractor with the proven ZiS-2 divisional gun. Over 100 Komsomolets tractors were converted to this tank destroyer hybrid.
The first ZiS-30 tank destroyers were sent to the Western and Southern Front in September 1941, where they performed well against Hitler's panzers. Despite their ungainly appearance, the gun could, in theory, fire up to 25 rounds a minute, although under combat conditions this is likely to be somewhat less. The tractors existing ball-mounted hull machine gun was retained in the ZiS-30 for engaging enemy infantry directly.

The British army needed extra scout cars to complement the existing Daimler Dingo, and Humber came up with their two-man light scout car. Over 4,000 of this popular vehicle were produced and equipped all manner of Commonwealth, Polish and Czech units from 1942 to the end of the war. They were used for recce work and general liaison duties, and proved most useful, having a small silhouette and a truly impressive speed of 62 mph. It relied on this speed to keep out of danger, as it only carried Bren guns or Vickers K light machine guns for local defence.
This kit also includes a model of Brigadier J.O.E. Vandeleur, who famously led the Irish Guards Armoured regiment along Highway 69 towards Arnhem during Operation Market Garden.
Contains one resin and metal armoured car, one Brigadier J.O.E. Vandaleur figure, Bolt Action stat card, vehicle damage markers, full colour waterslide decals, Bolt Action order die.

Infantry weapons teams are a key component of any Bolt Action army, providing as they do great tactical flexibility for your force. Sniper teams, flamethrower teams and light machine gun teams are among the most prevalent, presenting your opponent with multiple challenges to overcome.
By their nature as specialist raiders, Commandos go to battle lightly equipped in terms of weaponry. However, they made good use of Vickers K machine guns - formerly aircraft-mounted machine guns - with their high rate of suppressive fire. These 2-man teams comprise a Vickers K gunner and his No 2 laden with extra ammo.
Whilst marksmanship was a vital skill for all Commandos, those with a special aptitude for accuracy and field craft were often employed as snipers. In the early days of the organization, snipers were employed on a more ad-hoc basis; later in the war they, along with their scoped rifles, were specifically listed in Commando tables of organization and equipment. As well as being used for scouting and attacking enemy forces, snipers were also employed in pairs on landing craft to target enemy defenders during the run in to amphibious assaults and raids.
For the assault on Normandy in June 1944, Commandos were issued backpack flamethrowers for clearing fortified positions on the beaches. The Flamethrower, Portable, Mk 2 carried enough fuel for approximately 10 one-second bursts and were quickly discarded after the initial stages of the assault.

Infantry weapons teams are a key component of any Bolt Action army, providing as they do great tactical flexibility for your force. Sniper teams, light mortar teams and anti-tank rifle teams are among the most prevalent, presenting your opponent with multiple challenges to overcome.
Like many other nations, Poland learned well the lessons of World War I, and saw the value in close-support mortar weaponry. Many infantry companies were issued 46mm light mortars to fulfil this close support role.
The Polish Army didn’t include specially equipped snipers as such, but the best shots in a company would be designated as marksmen.
The Polish wz.35 anti-tank rifle was unusual in that it did not fire a solid tungsten core round as did most other nations’ anti-tank rifles. Rather, it fired a standard lead core with a steel jacket. Instead of penetrating the hull like traditional anti-tank rounds, the transferred energy would cause spalling (making a piece of armour tear off inside the crew compartment) that lead to fragments ricocheting around the inside of the vehicle – a very nasty affair for the crew!

The Belgian Army was armed with the Lance DBT 50mm Light Mortar. Similar in design and the same caliber as the Japanese knee mortar, this weapon provided Belgian platoons with close infantry support and was capable of firing 20 rounds per minute.
The Belgian sniper carried and operated the Fusil Mle 1935 rifle. Firing a 7.56mm round and with a scope attached, this rifle was lethal in the hands of a marksman.
The British-made Boys anti-tank rifle was supplied to the French and Belgian armies as the Le Fusil Antichar Boys Mark I. The Boys was an effective anti-tank rifle against early German tanks.

Inspired by German self-propelled guns the Type 4 Ho-Ro assault gun was based on a reinforced Type 97 Chi-Ha tank chassis. The Type 4 Ho-Ro mounted the Type 38 150mm howitzer. Surrounding the front of the howitzer was 25mm of armour plating – the open rear leaving the crew susceptible to close combat and shrapnel.
The 150mm gun predominantly fired Type 88 APHE (armour-piercing high explosive) rounds although it could also fire HEAT (high explosive anti-tank) shells. Ammunition was stored in a container on the rear engine deck.
Rushed into service towards the end of World War II, the Ho-Ro was deployed in batteries of four vehicles. It saw action during the Philippines Campaign and during the American assault on Okinawa where it was heavily outnumbered by US artillery assets.

One of several anti-aircraft vehicles to utilise the reliable and ubiquitous Pz IV chassis, the Wirbelwind (Whirlwind) mounted a quad-barreled Flakvierling 38 on an open-topped turret.
Around 100 Wirbelwinds were produced in the latter half of 1944, fulfilling the German requirement for a self-propelled, multi-barrel flak gun capable of engaging targets under 2,000 metres. They became known by their crews as the Keksdode (biscuit tin) due to the unique shape of the turret.
Capable of a punishing 800 rounds per minute in combat the 2cm guns were relatively ineffective against aircraft but devastating against ground targets such as infantry, soft-skinned or lightly-armoured vehicles.

The Valentine tank was a tough and reliable workhorse of the Commonwealth and Soviet armies. Though superseded by the Churchill and Sherman on the Western Front, the 16-ton machine was also used by New Zealand forces in the Far East and continued to be used in notable in numbers by Stalin’s Red Army, who appreciated their comfort, on the Eastern Front until the end of the war.
Introduced in the Western Desert in 1940, the British army used the well-armoured tank to support the infantry’s advance. The three-man crews found the tank cramped and slow, but very reliable. Additionally, the Valentine was well armoured for its day – at 65mm thick, the steel could shrug off most hits. The tank could hit back with the 40mm 2-pounder and a Besa machine gun.
Contains one resin & metal Valentine II infantry tank, Bolt Action stat card, vehicle damage markers, full-colour decal sheet and Bolt Action Order dice.

The Autoblindo 40, 41 and 43 (abbreviated AB 40, 41 and 43) were Italian armoured cars produced by Fiat-Ansaldo and which saw service mainly during World War II. Most autoblinde were armed with a 20 mm Breda 35 autocannon and a coaxial 8 mm machine gun in a turret similar to the one fitted to the Fiat L6/40, and another hull mounted rear-facing 8 mm machine gun.

The Camionetta Desertica Model 42 (also known as the SPA-Viberti AS.42 or Sahariana) was an Italian reconnaissance car of World War II. The AS.42 (Africa Settentrionale = North Africa) was developed by SPA-Viberti using the same chassis as the AB 41 armoured car, including its four-wheel steering, but with a 2x4 transmission specifically for desert operations, primarily in a reconnaissance role. Its origins trace back to requests stemming from units operating on the North African front for a long range, highly maneuverable vehicle, similar to those widely used by the highly successful British reconnaissance and raiding force, the Long Range Desert Group (LRDG).

A reliable workhorse, the FIAT 626 became the standard Italian medium truck and operated on all fronts. 700 were delivered to the French and 100 to the Bulgarian Army, whilst Italy's Axis allies, Germany, operated the 626 after the Italian Armistice. By the time the vehicle's production finished in 1948 more than 10,000 Fiat 626 trucks had left the assembly lines in Turin.

The Type 92 battalion gun (九二式歩兵砲, Kyūni-shiki Hoheihō) was a 70mm light howitzer used by the Imperial Japanese Army during the Second Sino-Japanese War and World War II. Type 92 could be used in both direct and in-direct fire. Despite its odd appearance, the Type 92 was well-liked by the IJA. The Type 92 designation was for the year the gun was accepted, 2592 in the Japanese imperial year calendar, or 1932 in the Gregorian calendar.
Each infantry battalion included two Type 92 guns; therefore, the Type 92 was referred to as "battalion artillery" (大隊砲, Daitaihō).

The Type 1 47mm AT gun was developed following the Japanese encounter with Russian armour and was the first indigenously developed dedicated anti-tank gun. It lacked the performance of other contemporary weapons of similar calibre, but was deemed sufficiently capable against lightly armoured tanks.
By the time it was introduced in 1942, it was therefore already outdated. The same gun was used as the main armament of the Type 97 Chi-Ha Shinhoto tank. It was also used by Japanese paratroops – dropped disassembled in separate containers.

The most useful kinds of light artillery were often mountain guns, as these were more easily moved about and could be disassembled and carried by mules if necessary. All kinds of artillery would be used. The old World War I French 75mm field gun was one of the most common artillery pieces used by many nations at the start of the war, and no doubt a number fell into the hands of partisan forces.

The hardened sailors of the Baltic and Black Sea Fleets took to land to help drive the German invaders from the Motherland. Such was their fierce reputation their enemies quickly named them ‘The Black Death’...
The Soviet Baltic Fleet and most of the Black Sea Fleet were bottled up in harbour by the German advance. In Leningrad, the ships of the Red Banner fleet became anti-aircraft platforms and long-range artillery for the duration of the siege.
This freed up large numbers of sailors to serve as desperately needed riflemen, often still dressed in their black naval uniform with its distinctive cap and striped shirt. The Germans called them the ‘black death’ because of their black or dark blue uniforms and their fearsome prowess on the battlefield.
In total, about 350,000 Red Navy sailors fought on land during the Great Patriotic War. A number of specialised naval infantry units were formed: 40 brigades and five regiments. They won a reputation for tenacity and daring both in defensive fighting and in coastal landing operations on the Baltic and Black seas.
